We will journey through Discovery Canyon. I’d like to introduce two of our critters you will meet this summer. The first day we’ll meet Liz, the dessert collared lizard. We rejoice with Liz as we learn the story of Miriam. Psalm 9:2: God Most High, I will rejoice: I will celebrate and sing because of you. Miriam was dancing and singing after the parting of the Red Sea. She rejoiced because God had protected the Israelites. “The dessert collared lizard is know for being able to run on its hind legs, which makes it appear as though it is dancing, just like Miriam.”
The second day we’ll pray with Max the Praying Mantis. We remember our devotion to prayer as we meet Hannah. Psalm 27:8: My heart tells me to pray. Hannah was devoted to God in prayer and bowed and prayed to God day and night. “The praying mantis is so named because of its typical ‘prayer-like’ stance. It reminds us of Hannah’s devotion to prayer.”
