Stewardship is...

how we use the gifts of time, talent, and treasure that God has first given us.

Worship and Music

We will change to our summer worship schedule on May 27 - Memorial Day weekend..  The first service will still begin at 8:00 am, but the second service will be at  10:00 am, not 10:30.   Between the services there will be a new Oatmeal Bar! Join us each week for fellowship and a healthy breakfast treat!

Congregational Forums

On May 20 @ 9:15 am there will be a Congregational Forum to discuss various topics, including becoming a PADS site and worship options.  Please be sure to attend this important meeting.  If you can’t make it there will be another meeting with the same agenda on Sunday June 10 at the same time.
On Sunday June 3 @ 11:15 am all are invited to attend our Goals and Grub visioning session.  We will have a potluck brunch, so sign up in the office to bring a dish to share.

Christian Education

Adult Bible Study

The Adult Bible study is finishing up the book of Daniel and will be looking at Mary Magdalene and her role in the Gospel. We will be continuing through the summer so please join us at 9:15 am in the library. Our next topic is a study on the book of Esther.

Stewardship

LifeBalance

Starting in April group of 14 Redeemer members of all ages began LifeBalance, an 8-week wellness program developed by LSSI to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.  The program continues through the end of May.  It has been so successful that we plan to offer it again, perhaps at a different time. Special thanks to Mic and Kecia Griffin for leading our closing exercises.  For more information on LifeBalance see Pastor Tom.

Social Justice

Rotary Food Distribution

The third Noon Rotary Club of Woodstock mobile food pantry of the year was hosted by Redeemer Lutheran Church on Friday, April 20th.  This truck was paid for by the St. Vincent De Paul Society of Woodstock.  The weather was quite cold for April with the temperature in the low forties and a chilly north wind blowing.  There were 223 tickets given out with all but 8 being redeemed, leaving a total of 215 families served.

Things went smooth with no incidents to report.  We started out short of help so several of the clients volunteered to help.  Before we were finished several more volunteers arrived and we were able to complete the distribution without client volunteer help.

There was a great deal of gratitude with one gentleman making a point of taking a few moments to talk to me.  He soberly explained that without the generosity of this operation his children may not eat.  When things like this happen it further reminds us as to why we do this.

Special thanks to Nicky Franke and Dave Byers for braving the cold, to Phyllis Ule for going out of her way to pick up a couple of people that are homeless so that they might assist me in parking.  I need these people, and they actually do a great job - I was thankful for her help.

Respectfully,
R. Glenn Allen

Haiti Team News

RINGS

(Redeemer Intertwined with Nativity, Grace, and St. John’s -- our HS youth group)

Dinner Theater Was a HUGE Success!

Thank you to the many, many people who made the RINGS FourthAnnual Dinner Theater a great success this year. The kids worked really hard on their play, The Mysterious Benefactor, and the parents worked really hard to make sure the food - especially the lasagna - was super delicious! We made about $1700 toward our trip to the ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans on July 18-21. Thanks to everyone for your support!!

Pizza Sale!

RINGS will be selling delicious Champion pizzas on May 13 at the church. You can also phone in orders. Pizzas will cost $7 each or 3 for $20. It will all be delivered on Sunday, May 20, so you can pick it up after worship. See Pastor Tom for more information. Thank you for your support!
